The resolution of real world vision problems requires a combination
of scientific and empirical knowledge with an understanding of the
underlying scientific and sociological principles. It is a multidisciplinary
approach involving the skills and resources of many scientific disciplines.
It is also a process of transferring knowledge to the younger generation
as they are the greatest hope and foundation for the future. It is
our intention, through Oppy, to create a positive environment for
children to interact with their physician and transform the experience
into one which they look forward to. The Philadelphia Retina Endowment
Fund encourages everyone to become philanthropists, even in a small
meaningful way that suits their personalities, interest, talents,
resources, and time. Helping others is just a matter of time and time
is valuable and can be given by anyone,
not just the well-to-do.
Imagine what your life would be without the discovery by Pasteur,
for example, of the process to pasteurize milk or without the discovery
of vaccines to protect our children from infectious diseases like
rabies or polio. It is the continuous process of research which makes
possible these advancements that we often take for granted. Our laboratory
and its associated laboratories are devoted to research of diseases
of the eye with an emphasis on the retina. We welcome your interest
and/or participation in our efforts to eradicate these potentially
blinding disorders. |
